ATHRI MAHAA MUNI is the second of NAVA BRAHMAS created by VIRINCHI PITHAAMAHA VAACHASPATHI LORD AADYA BRAHMA. As per the advice of BRAHMA , ATHRI married ANASOOYA DEVI , daughter of KARDAMA and DEVAHOOTHI. Due to the Great Virtue of ANASOOYA and Penance of ATHRI , the couple were Blessed with Three sons of BRAHMA , VISHNU and SIVA Amsas , respectively CHANDRA , DATTHAATHREYA and DOORVAASA.

ATHRI is so called because He conquered Three GuNas - Raja , Satthva , Thamas . ATHRI helped Prithu Chakravarthi in his Aswameddha yaagam.
ATHRI and ANASOOYA are very Noble and Pious Couple. ATHRI MAHAA MUNI is the Author of ATHRI SAMHITHA , ATHRI SMRUTHI and AATHREYA DHARMA SAASTHRA . ATHRI and ANASOOYA played host to LORD RAAMA , SEETHA during vanavaasam. ATHRI is one of SAPTHA RISHIS and GOTHRA KARTHA of AATHREYASA GOTHRAM. THRAYAA RISHEYAM (Three Rishis) - AATHREYASA , ARCHANAANASA , SYAAVASYA I pay my respects to my Ancestors , ATHRI and ANASOOYA.
