Thaara Devi is a Goddess . SHE is one of Dasa(Ten)Maha Vidyas along with Nine Other Devis - Maathangi , Bhuvaneswari, BagaLaamukhi, Thripura Sundari aka Thripura Bhairavi, Kamala, KaaLika, Chinmastha , Dhoomaavathi and Shodasi.

Thaara Devi is a Thaanthric Diety of Vajraayana Buddhism of Tibet ( Thri Peettha ).

All These Mahavidyas are Shakthi Forms .

1. Thaara 1 is wife of Bruhaspathi , Deva Guru. Thaara might have desired to wed Chandra along with His 27 wives , all daughters of Daksha Prajaapathi and Devi Prasoothi. However Thaara had to marry Bruhaspathi , an elderly but a very wise person at the behest of Brahma . Bruhaspathi misbehaved with his brother's wife and had to suffer the consequence in that Thaara was abducted by Chandra and begat Budha(Mercury )

Bruhaspathi was magnanimous enough to adopt Budha and made hima as wise as himself. Budha married Ilaa Devi ( d/o Soorya ) and fathered Puroorava, the originator of Chandra Dynasty.

2. Thaara 2 is tossed about between Vaali and Sugreeva who ever happened to be in power at any given time and she had no choice but to obey . One consolation is her son Angada was made Crown Prince and Heir apparent to Kingdom of Kashkinddha.
